Only good news

We have a working elevator!

Final cost is lower than estimated. We raised nearly $11,000 through our Elevator campaign, which really helped.

We are in the final stages of coming to an agreement to lease out the lower hall and TLP (Canada EH!) are returning in the spring, which should keep Branch 351 in the black.

CEBA loan is about to be paid off, we were approved for a loan of $40,000 to pay off CEBA, as of today the cheque is in the mail and I should be able to deliver it to the bank tomorrow.

Our financial debt load that includes the elevator, upgrade to washroom to make it fully accessible (current standards), and other incidental expenses could be covered by use of our “Line of Credit”. This is a huge relief, loans and mortgages come with a cost and commitment.

The executive is working at having several activities such as the Newfie Bash, Cribbage challenges, Superbowl fun day and more. We could really use your help in organizing these but will apprecciate your attendance. We really need “boots on the floor” if Montgomery is going to be: "Staying Alive” which reminds me, Karaoke is back as of this Friday, January 12th. “Montgomery Centretown Legion”

Montgomery Legion entered the Zone Seniors Dart shoot with 2 teams of 4, although we didn’t win, we made our presence known and had a lot of fun. Next up is the open shoot on the 20th of this month and we hope to have an even greater representation. Zone Euchre is on the 3rd of February, hosted by Bells Corners, Branch 593. Would really like to have several teams, need to know your interest ASAP. Rides to and from can be arranged.

A special welcome to comrade Lisa Morris who has agreed to take on our Seniors events portfolio. Lisa applied for a grant, and we know we are on the short list for approval. Success will make for an exciting calendar of events for Branch 351. In the meantime, she has initiated contact with various groups and has had positive responses such as Royal Bank offering to do seminars for seniors addressing fraud, wills, power of attorneys and much more. This program is going to take on a life of its own and I am sure Lisa would like to form a committee to assist in organization and delivery. Many hands make light work and ensure success. Contact the branch and step up and join the team of active members!

In closing, we are designing a newsletter which will be published monthly. Your executive is working hard to make you want to be part of an active Legion, we need you to come out, request an activity, join in organizing and be a part of the team.

SEE YOU SOON!
